# Groovv Pulse and public vinyl collections (share.groovv.app) > share.groovv.app is the public web side of Groovv, a vinyl record collection app for iPhone and Android. It hosts Groovv Pulse, live statistics on what vinyl collectors own, buy, want and play, built from real Groovv collections, and the public collection pages that Groovv collectors choose to share. Pulse refreshes every 15 minutes; its "collection, decoded" insights refresh daily; each month is frozen as a dated archive. Facts below are as of 11 October 2026. This file is generated from the live Pulse figures, so it is always current. ## Groovv Pulse - [Groovv Pulse (live)](https://share.groovv.app/): The vinyl community in numbers. New vinyl, albums on the rise, rarest pressings added this month, most wanted, most collected, when the community listens, featured collectors, and "the collection, decoded" (original pressings vs reissues, the coloured vinyl trend, records people buy twice, completist artists, starter vs deep crates). - [Methodology](https://share.groovv.app/pulse/methodology): Definitions behind every figure. - [Data (JSON)](https://share.groovv.app/pulse/data.json): The live figures as JSON, CC BY 4.0. - [Pulse archive, September 2026](https://share.groovv.app/pulse/2026-09): The community as it stood when September 2026 closed. - [Pulse archive, August 2026](https://share.groovv.app/pulse/2026-08): The community as it stood when August 2026 closed. - [Pulse archive, July 2026](https://share.groovv.app/pulse/2026-07): The community as it stood when July 2026 closed. ## Headline findings (as of 11 October 2026) Community size - 105,925 records catalogued by 1,158 collectors (1,775 Groovv members), covering 25,691 artists. The colour revolution (share of copies by the year the pressing was made) - Coloured vinyl: 0.7% of 1965-1969 pressings, against 53.6% of pressings made since 2025. - Heavyweight 180g vinyl peaked at 31.4% of 2010-2014 pressings and has fallen to 9.8%. How people collect - Led Zeppelin IV is the album collectors most often own in more than one pressing: 11 of its 90 owners have at least two. - The biggest completists: Elvis Presley owners hold 6.4 of the artist's albums on average, Taylor Swift owners 4.3, The Beatles owners 4.2. - Starter collections (10-60 records) are led by Short N' Sweet (Sabrina Carpenter), in 23 of 384 starter collections and none of the 31 with 500+ records. Big collections over-index on In Through The Out Door, Presence and Get The Knack. The people behind the wax (from Discogs credits on each pressing) - Lacquer cutters on the most collectors' shelves: Chris Bellman (388 collectors), Bernie Grundman (309 collectors), Miles Showell (305 collectors). - Two plants press most of today's vinyl: GZ Media (28%) and Optimal Media GmbH (27%) pressed 55% of the 2020s copies on Groovv whose plant is known. - In the 1960s the top plant was Columbia Records Pressing Plant, Terre Haute (10%). - Recording studios behind the most collections: Electric Lady Studios (298 collectors), Abbey Road Studios (285 collectors), Record Plant, Los Angeles (281 collectors). New vinyl and wantlists - Most-added new releases (collectors adding them in the last 60 days): Sabrina Carpenter, Man's Best Friend (16); Taylor Swift, The Life Of A Showgirl (15); Olivia Rodrigo, You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love (15). - Most wanted: Arctic Monkeys, AM (18 wantlists); Michael Jackson, Thriller (16 wantlists); Daft Punk, Random Access Memories (14 wantlists). When collectors listen (logged spins, local time, each listener weighted equally, 202 listeners) - Weekend mornings are vinyl time: in the morning (9am-12pm), collectors spin 3.9 times as much on Saturdays and Sundays as on weekdays. - On weekdays, listening builds through the day and peaks in the evening (6pm-9pm). - Saturday is the busiest day for spins; Thursday is the quietest. ## Methodology - Source: Records catalogued in the Groovv app by its collectors, with release data from Discogs. Counts include private collections as anonymous aggregates; a collector is only ever named if they chose to be featured. - Albums: Different pressings of the same album count together: albums are grouped by Discogs master release, and a pressing without a master borrows the master of a same-title, same-artist pressing. - Collectors and members: Collectors are accounts with at least one record. Members are all accounts. - Most collected: Albums ranked by how many distinct collectors own at least one copy. - New vinyl: Albums first released in roughly the last 12 months, ranked by how many distinct collectors added them in the last 60 days. - On the rise: Only records added by collectors who have been on Groovv for 14 days or more, outside bulk imports (days with more than 50 additions), in the last 60 days. Ranked by how far those additions exceed the album's usual share, so long-standing classics do not win on size alone. New releases are left to New vinyl. - Rarest pressings added: Pressings added in the last 30 days with 200 or fewer copies registered on Discogs and at least 30 have-plus-want, so the count is trustworthy. - Most wanted: Albums ranked by how many distinct collectors have them on their wantlist. - When the community listens: Logged spins, at most three per record per day per collector, in the collector's local time (device time zone where known, otherwise estimated from their region), in 3-hour blocks. Each listener is weighted equally, so heavy loggers do not dominate. - The long tail: The share of albums owned by exactly one collector, and the share of collectors with 10 or more records who own at least one album nobody else on Groovv has. - Originals or reissues: An original is a copy pressed within one year of the album's first release. Covers albums first released before 2000 with 40 or more copies on Groovv. - Coloured and heavyweight vinyl: The share of copies by the year each pressing was made, in 5-year groups. Colour is read from the pressing's Discogs format notes, ignoring label colours, stamps and half-speed mastering notes. Heavyweight means 180g, 200g or 220g. - Records people buy twice: Albums owned by the same collector in two or more different pressings. - Completist magnets: The average number of an artist's albums owned by each collector who owns at least one, for artists with 40 or more collectors. - Starter and deep crates: Albums most over-represented in collections of 10 to 60 records compared with collections of 500 or more. - Who cut your records: Lacquer cutters come from each pressing's Discogs credits ("Lacquer Cut By"), ranked by how many collectors own a pressing they cut. - Who pressed each decade: Pressing plants come from each pressing's Discogs company credits ("Pressed By"). Shares are of the copies pressed in that decade whose plant is known, for decades with 500 or more such copies. - Where it was recorded: Recording studios come from Discogs company credits ("Recorded At"), ranked by how many collectors own a record made there. - Privacy: Every figure is an aggregate. No list is built from fewer than 5 collectors, and comparisons between collection sizes need 8. - Updates: Live figures refresh every 15 minutes; the collection, decoded refreshes daily; each month is frozen as an archive when it closes. - Licence: Groovv Pulse figures are published under CC BY 4.0: reuse them freely with credit to Groovv Pulse and a link to share.groovv.app. ## Public collections - Collection pages: https://share.groovv.app/{username}.
